PUBLISHING & DESIGN
The Idiom, Chapbook 2019
Our annual chapbook publication, a smaller and simpler version of The Idiom proper. Each chapbook centers around a socially relevant topic which students respond to; 2019’s being the Kavanaugh trial and #MeToo Movement. Unlike our normal edition, we do not accept visual submissions, allowing more creativity for the designer (myself) to create an issue surrounding the prompt.
The Idiom, Spring 2019
The Idiom is the bi-annual literary and arts publication at Gordon College, the primary source for students to showcase their poetry, short prose, photography, and art. As designer, I matched the visual and written submissions so that each page would be captivating and cohesive with the rest of the edition. This semester, I focused on a classic black and white, inspired by the ink drawings I love so much. I am also published (by the decision of the other editors, not myself) with both a poem and two drawings featured.
Sigma Tau Delta Halloween Poster
This poster is for Sigma Tau Delta, Gordon College’s English Honors Society. Taking inspiration from old-schoolhouse type chalkboards, typewriters, and musty old tomes in the library, this poster fit the occasion perfectly.
The Idiom, Fall 2018
My first hand at designing something outside of class, this edition’s design was based off of the edition from the year before. While I am pleased with it, it doesn’t carry as much of my personal touch as the chapbook and Spring edition. However, the color pallette and matching of the visual and written submissions is mine uniquely.
If I Told You Release Event Poster
As an editor and design consultant on the staff of another student run publication, I made this series of posters to be printed on three different colors of paper. I loved the simple blocks of black and white and playing with the shapes they created.
The Idiom Release Party Poster
I created this poster to match the my design for The Idiom. I just can’t stay away from that water and ink wash!
